Today's vintage is 2011 Rodney Strong Chardonnay, from Sonoma county, California.
The vineyard is family owned, and environmentally conscious. The grapes are grown in the cooler, more temperate areas of Sonoma county, near the Pacific Ocean.
The wine itself is spirited in flavor, with undertones of lemon and apple, and stronger flavors of oak and pineapple. It is wonderful as an aperitif, or with light seafood or chicken dishes.
